Week One -- The Coal, Carrot and Scarf
Week One Prompt: Five pieces of coal, a carrot, and a scarf are lying on the lawn. Nobody put them on the lawn but there is a perfectly logical reason why they should be there. What is it? My neighbor is a performance artist, but not a very popular one. They aren't able to get into any of the big shows at galleries or museums, so instead they host performance art shows outside their house every Sunday at noon. Sometimes I watch from my window, and last Sunday their piece was particularly strange. They put on a performance about climate change, dressed up as a snowman slowly melting. My neighbor came out of the house wearing pieces of coal strapped to their eyes and body, a carrot taped over their nose, and a scarf wrapped around them. For their 3 viewers, they proceeded to dance and sing about melting, all while slowly sinking to the ground. Finally, they took off all the snowman gear and left it on their lawn as a lasting statement about climate change.
